Wilson Turner Kosmo, the largest certified women‐owned law firm in San Diego, continues to add leading legal talent to its lineup of skilled business and employment law litigators with the addition of Elvira Cortez, Michaela P. Delacruz, Kristina A. Fretwell, Ashley E. Quinn and Jordan R. Turner to its Business Litigation, Employment, Product Liability and Warranty groups.

Elvira Cortez

Cortez, a senior associate, brings extensive experience in civil litigation to the firm’s Business Litigation and Employment Law groups where she represents businesses across a wide range of industry sectors against claims of discrimination, harassment and wrongful termination, among employment-related matters, in state and federal courts. She also helps businesses resolve commercial disputes and defends clients from products liability claims.

A past president of the Lawyers Club of San Diego, Cortez was selected among The Best Lawyers in America’s Ones to Watch in 2020. She received her J.D from American University Washington College of Law and B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles. Cortez served on the American University International Law Review. Prior to attending law school, Cortez served under California’s Secretary of Education as a fellow in the Capital Fellows Program.

Michaela P. Delacruz

An associate in the firm’s Employment Law group, Delacruz represents employers in a variety of employment disputes, including wrongful termination, breach of contract, discrimination, whistle blower, harassment, retaliation, failure to accommodate as well as wage and hour litigation. She has experience litigating jury and bench trials and in resolving cases through arbitrations and mediations. Delacruz is versed in representing clients against claims filed with the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Division of Labor Standards Enforcement.

She earned her J.D. from California Western School of Law and B.A. from UCLA. Delacruz externed for the San Diego Superior Court, Criminal Division during law school, and, prior to joining WTK, she worked at a national civil litigation firm in New York defending clients in general liability matters.

Kristina A. Fretwell

Joining the firm’s Product Liability group as an associate, Fretwell has extensive experience representing regional, national and international insurance companies in coverage disputes and litigation. Fretwell also has experience representing regional and national homebuilders, commercial and residential contractors, specialty contractors and design professionals in construction defect disputes.

She earned her J.D. from California Western School of Law and B.A. from the University of Arizona. During law school, she had an externship with the Hon. Nita L. Stormes of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California and clerked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in San Diego. She also served as a senior editor on the California Western Law Review/International Law Journal. Before pursuing her legal career, Fretwell spent nearly a decade lobbying for private and public entities at the federal, state and local levels of government in areas such as housing, education, taxation and transportation.

Ashley Quinn

An associate, Quinn joins the firm’s Product Liability and Warranty groups through which she represents companies involved in product liability matters as well as manufacturers in warranty, fraud and unfair competition claims brought under both federal and state laws. She has extensive experience representing clients in class-action, multidistrict and other high-stakes litigation involving fraud, false claims, insurance bad faith, product liability, employment and unfair competition matters.

She is a two-time graduate of the University of Oklahoma where she earned her J.D. and B.A. While pursuing her law degree, Quinn served as a judicial intern for the Hon. Robert E. Bacharach of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. She also served as an articles editor of the Oklahoma Law Review and on the school’s Board of Governors. Before joining WTK, Quinn worked as an associate at a top litigation firm in Oklahoma City and served as a project coordinator for Edison Electric Institute in Washington D.C. She is admitted to practice law in Oklahoma and California.

Jordan Turner

Turner, an associate in the firm’s Business Litigation and Employment Law groups, counsels and represents employers in a variety of employment disputes, including discrimination, harassment and retaliation as well as wage and hour litigation and against other employment-related claims.

A former Division I NCAA college basketball player, Turner earned his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law and B.A. from University of the Pacific. Prior to joining WTK, he worked at a boutique law firm where his practice centered on employment and consumer law defense. Turner, a past San Diego County Bar Association Diversity Fellow, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Foundation and actively involved in Lawyers Club of San Diego.
