Pacific Building Group Converts UTC Bank Suite into Fertility Clinic

General contractor Pacific Building Group has converted a former bank suite into a fertility clinic for Pearl Mini-IVF, which is now open at 4510 Executive Drive Suite 150 in San Diego. The $2 million conversion of the 4,700 square-foot suite includes 1,000 square feet of embryology and andrology lab space and a procedure room to support the clinic’s specialized in-vitro fertilization services. The project joins other notable ground up and interior improvement medical office projects completed by Pacific Building Group, including those for California Fertility Experts, San Diego Fertility Clinic and Reproductive Science Management.

“We take pride in supporting healthcare professionals and specialty practice groups such as Pearl Mini-IVF by providing offices that are aesthetically pleasing and meet rigorous industry standards,” said Jim Roherty, President of Pacific Building Group. “While the result for Pearl Mini-IVF is a state-of-the-art clinic that does just that, the construction process did come with a few challenges such as working in an occupied building, coordinating the building’s complex mechanical, electrical and plumbing infrastructure and overcoming material and permit delays due to COVID-19.”

Pearl Mini-IVF’s unique construction needs included building lab spaces that require precise temperature and environment controls via custom mechanical units as well as installing medical gas systems and liquid nitrogen piping systems to serve the labs and patient care areas. Additional upgrades included installing an enclosed remote generator in the parking lot, a new front entry and reception area, consultation and exam rooms, offices and restrooms.

Pacific Building Group’s project team included Andre Childers, John Zagorski, Tim Book, Randy Berger, Bryan Scott, Michael Giannini and Cindy Jones. The architect was Ware Malcomb and the construction manager was David Lawson.
