Fish & Richardson Welcomes Associate Dr. Jeffrey Bowers to its Silicon Valley Office

Fish & Richardson has again bolstered its patent team of highly specialized technology attorneys with the addition of Dr. Jeff Bowers. With advanced degrees in physics, electrical engineering and computer science, Bowers joins the firm as an associate in the Silicon Valley office.

Bowers’ practice focuses on patent prosecution, portfolio management and counseling in a wide array of technologies, including computer science, electrical engineering and physical sciences. Before joining Fish, Bowers worked as a patent attorney, physicist and inventor at Intellectual Ventures, a large private technology company. He also worked as a software development engineer at Microsoft Corp.

Bowers has authored more than eight scientific articles with more than 900 literature citations and is a named inventor on more than 100 issued U.S. patents.

During his academic career, Bowers conducted graduate and postgraduate research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Research Laboratory of Electronics and Center for Theoretical Physics and at the University of Washington Institute for Nuclear Theory.

He earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from Seattle University School of Law, where he graduated first in his class in 2015. At MIT, he earned a B.S. and M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. and Ph.D. in Physics. He is admitted to practice law in the state of Washington and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
